Custom Runway-Themed Epoxy Floor in a Private Hangar

Most people think of epoxy floors as strictly a practical upgrade - durable, easy to clean, done. And yeah, that's true. But every once in a while, a client comes to us with a vision that goes way beyond that. This was one of those jobs.

The owner of this private hangar had a clear idea. He wanted his floor to look like a real runway - complete with threshold markings, a centerline, runway number, and side stripes. The whole deal. Our job was to take that idea and execute it cleanly on a large concrete floor, making sure the finished product looked sharp and held up to real-world use.

We started with a full concrete grind to prep the surface properly. Good prep is everything on a job like this - skip it and the coating won't bond right, the surface won't be smooth, and the details in the markings won't be crisp. After grinding, we applied a grey epoxy base coat and then laid out all the custom runway graphics using precision masking before adding the topcoat. The result is a floor that's sealed, glossy, and tough enough to handle foot traffic, equipment, and whatever else gets rolled through a hangar.

What makes this one stand out is the attention to detail in the markings themselves. The threshold bars, the fixed distance markers, the runway designator - it all lines up the way it should.
